Peplum & Metallics

After a long week of final exams, my friend Ziana and I went for coffee where we engaged in an all-out conversation about fashion, cities and even thought about a trip to New York in the coming new year *fingers crossed* After our date, we headed over to the mall where she purchased a set of spiked bracelets from Aldo (photo coming soon). After her splurge, we went to a store called Urban, a hip street wear store with brands like Jack and Jones, Vero Moda, Free People, and much more. While browsing the store, I came across a beautiful peplum top on sale in the back. As I contemplated over the shirt, Ziana convinced me to try on a pair of Brown Vero Moda jeans that she handpicked herself. She also has the same pair, but in gold (twins!).  I agreed to try the pieces on and to my surprise, they were a hit.

The shirt I absolutely adored because of the mesh dotted sleeves which reminded me of Liv Tyler when she rocked that black Stella McCartney cocktail dress back in May. The jeans needed persuasion for I had to try on different  sizes because it caused a crease near the crotch area. When finding the right fit for stretchy denim, the key is to go down a size smaller because eventually the jeans will stretch, and I mean STRETCH. This results in extra bulk around the waist and in the you-know-who area.

The good news about peplum is that it can be worn with any body shape if worn properly. The purpose of peplum is to give the woman an hourglass shape and to balance out the proportions of her curves. The peplum should sit at the top of the waist to create a contrast between your hips and waistline. It can be worn with a pair of skinnies, a pencil skirt, or even a pair of shorts. This top should not be crossed with baggy jeans, leggings, or a high/low skirt.

Fuchsia Fierce

In my 21 years of existence, never have I ever heard a female say "I don't need anymore shoes." It is true that every girl has a bit of Carrie Bradshaw in her and what not better thing to do in a time of stress is to go shoe shopping! While shopping online at GoJane, I came across a pair of shoes that will forever remain memorable in my shoe collection. Remember when Jeffrey Campbell came out with the infamous "Night walker" shoe with the heelless wedge? I thought so! Well I was originally going to get that pair but I didn't feel like spending $200 on a pair of shoes that I will probably only wear once. I came across these babies (below) that only cost, gee I don't know.... $38. Did I say that correctly?

Same design, different colour, and a touch of studding on the back of the heel. These are by far one of the most eccentric pair of shoes that I own in my closet. Shipping for these babies take about two weeks and ships worldwide. When I slipped my foot into the shoe, I felt a sense of empowerment come over me. I'm not gonna lie, I almost tripped a few times in these but after a week of wearing them around the house, my feet began to adjust to the shoe, and to be honest, they're not that bad to walk in. Pair these with black leggings or a cute dress and you'll be turning heads everywhere you go.

Whether you're a risk taker or want to bring out your inner Gaga, why not strut your stuff in these affordable fuchsia night walkers as opposed to spending the extra $$$ on a pair of JC's. These can be found online at www.gojane.com

Colours include:
-Fuchsia
-Black
-Blue
-Orange

Biggie, Biggie, Biggie

So this past Monday was the last day of school, so I thought "why not do it biggie?" Well let's just say that I took it literally. For those who don't know me, I am a huge hip-hop fan and when I say hip-hop, I don't mean a fan of hip-hop today. I was born in the golden era of hip-hop which was around the early 90's and with the help of my mother and uncle, I became introduced to artists like The Fugees and went on to listening to east coast artists like Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest,Nas etc. It wasn't until I heard "Big Poppa" by Notorious B.I.G and from there, my love for hip-hop never stopped.

To match Biggie's bad-boy image, I paired him with a leather jacket, some
red denim, brown combat boots (not shown) and a few bracelets.
While browsing the men's clothes online at Urban Outfitters, I found this shirt and had to purchase it. It was a Warhol-inspired Notorious B.I.G tee with the rapper mean muggin' while a crown covers his head. If you're a hip-hop lover like me, make some room in that closet because Big Poppa is comin' through.

DIY Studs

Lately I've discovered another hobby when it comes to fashion. Ready for it? Do It Yourself Studding. From denim jackets, denim vests to an old pair of Chuck Taylor's, studding has evolved into a worldwide trend in blogs everywhere. It gives new pieces an edgy feel, sort of like punk rock-chic. Am I right? Anyways, this past Monday night after countless hours of studying for my theology exam and with the insomnia kicking in, I thought I'd kill some time by studding an old denim jacket that I found at a Garage Sale.  What fascinated me about this trend was how easy and effortless it was. The studding itself took only ten minutes and you can create whatever design you like. On the bottom of each stud are four screws that can be pushed back into the shaft with just your fingers.

Before: Plain Jane

After: Golden Glam

It's best that you do this on a hard surface so that you don't get poked by the pointy bits of the studs, plus it makes it easier to stay aligned with your design.

See what a difference it makes? Pair it with a frilly tee shirt, colored pair of denim jeans, stack of bracelets and a sick pair of loafers, you'll go from Plain Jane to Street Chic in no time.
The studs can be purchased online at Ebay for less than a dollar, shipping usually takes up to two weeks.

This is the first piece I ever studded, took roughly ten minutes. The denim vest was found at Zara and adds an edgy look even over a plain white tee shirt or a sleeveless blouse.
Denim Vest: Zara ($45.90)

What are your thoughts on the studding trend?

Givenchy Galore

Although I am not a fan of Kim Kardashian, I will admit that her Shark Tooth Givenchy boots are fabulous! It's clear that Kanye is giving her some style tips but my head is not quite wrapped around her outfit choices since some are unflattering to her body type. But... I like her Celine bag. As I wiped the drool off my lower lip, I broadened my research with these boots and found that these boots by themselves cost $2000. Hmmmm.... College Tuition or Givenchy Boots?

Pair these with black leggings or a cute mini dress like Christine Centenera depicted below and VOILA! The world is your runway hunny!

Ready for The Weeknd!

This is probably one my most favorite looks I ever did. This was taken back in September where I accompanied my boyfriend to The Weeknd concert and it was amazing! I wanted to go for a risque look obviously with the crop top, plus add a touch of print with the pants and top it off with a statement necklace. LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD!

Introduction

To save you the trouble, I thought I'd begin this entry to give you guys a little information about me. My name is Camille! I am 21 years old and currently living in Canada (I'll say no more) I am a fashion junkie.  My style is a mix of everything for I do not like stick with one thing. I have high aspirations of becoming an elementary school teacher and I believe that by looking your best, you can go far. My inspiration when it comes to fashion is my mother, she knows what to find and does not shop according to brands. The best advice she ever gave me when it came to shopping was to be patient and not buy the first thing you see. I also like to travel which plays a huge role when it comes to finding inspiration. From the bright lights of Times Square to high fashion as tall as the Eiffel Tower, style has become evolved.  To keep myself from blabbing and boring you to death, just take a peek into my world of fashion and travel and maybe we can compare notes and learn from one another.

Mwah!
