DIY Studs

Lately I've discovered another hobby when it comes to fashion. Ready for it? Do It Yourself Studding. From denim jackets, denim vests to an old pair of Chuck Taylor's, studding has evolved into a worldwide trend in blogs everywhere. It gives new pieces an edgy feel, sort of like punk rock-chic. Am I right? Anyways, this past Monday night after countless hours of studying for my theology exam and with the insomnia kicking in, I thought I'd kill some time by studding an old denim jacket that I found at a Garage Sale.  What fascinated me about this trend was how easy and effortless it was. The studding itself took only ten minutes and you can create whatever design you like. On the bottom of each stud are four screws that can be pushed back into the shaft with just your fingers.

Before: Plain Jane

After: Golden Glam

It's best that you do this on a hard surface so that you don't get poked by the pointy bits of the studs, plus it makes it easier to stay aligned with your design.

See what a difference it makes? Pair it with a frilly tee shirt, colored pair of denim jeans, stack of bracelets and a sick pair of loafers, you'll go from Plain Jane to Street Chic in no time.
The studs can be purchased online at Ebay for less than a dollar, shipping usually takes up to two weeks.

This is the first piece I ever studded, took roughly ten minutes. The denim vest was found at Zara and adds an edgy look even over a plain white tee shirt or a sleeveless blouse.
Denim Vest: Zara ($45.90)

What are your thoughts on the studding trend?
