Peplum from the past

For those who are intigued by the peplum trend, this style was not invented yesterday for it has been around for a number of years. When I say  "a number of years," I mean going all the way back to 1947 where the first peplum blazer was introduced by none other than Christian Dior. It was known as the " tailleur bar" and it revolutionized women's fashion from there and onward. The peplum trend is known for its feminine features such as the clinching in at the waist and hips plus it can be worn with skinny jeans, tailored pants and a pencil skirt.

Here's my take on the peplum trend with a red blazer by Betsey Johnson. What makes Betsey Johnson so unique is that her pieces are FUN and she is a prime example when it comes to not taking fashion so seriously.
